Lorri grew up in Virginia where she spent weekends boating with family and friends. While working toward her master’s degree, she traveled on foot through numerous wilderness areas across the country. She earned her MA in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Maryland graduating with honors and specializing in adventure therapy. Lorri has run 3 marathons and a half marathon and continues to find ways to nurture her body and spirit in the outdoors.

Lorri's work with families, teenagers, and adults include the spectrum of wilderness programs, schools, and mental health facilities including the. Voyageur Outward Bound School and the Wilderness Education Association. In 1997, Lorri and her husband Doug Sabo founded Soltreks, Inc. to offer uniquely designed wilderness experiences. She specializes in curriculum development, family systems work, and standardizing the safety management of the program.

Lorri currently serves on the ethics committee of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP). Lorri believes in promoting and empowering the Soltreks team to develop and contribute to the training and program curriculum with creativity and spirit.

Lorri pays attention to what has heart and meaning. As the second oldest of 4 girls, she loves spending time with her sisters and her family. She is the proud parent of a Soltreks graduate; her son participated on a trek at age 13. Besides parenting, Lorri enjoys exploring places and taking photos, playing with her Siberian Huskies and admiring flowers.

Doug Sabo

Doug grew up in St. Paul, MN where ice hockey and being outdoors were his passions. After college and various positions unrelated to the outdoors, Doug decided to follow his heart. As a photographer, Doug combined his two passions and began his wilderness therapy career as an instructor. He has spent more than 3,000 field days with students from all over the United States.

Doug has been involved in the personal growth industry since 1980, attending numerous professional seminars. Through his work, he's helped many people make heartfelt connections within themselves and with others. Doug oversees the physical operations of the program. He also specializes in permits and regulations, creative curricula, and providing compassionate support to the Soltreks Team.

Doug’s field days continue to grow as he is often found counseling individuals and various groups. Doug is also an accomplished photographer, enjoys playing the harmonica, and spending time with family.
