Photography as a Therapeutic tool for transformation
Seeing, feeling, Sensing and capturing what has heart and meaning.
Photography played an important part in my transformation, bringing an awareness to a part of me I didn’t know existed, the ability to see beauty in all things. Photography is a way I strive to connect a universal truth within all of us and that is love, love of light, form and textures.
The intended goal in Therapeutic Photography is to produce positive change in individuals, couples and families, blending creativity with consciousness. Therapeutic Photography is a sensing experience, inviting whole body awareness.
Photography is an effective form of transformation:
An example: Perspective Taking
As seen in the photographs below, by changing the lens or moving closer to a scene, perspective changes dramatically. In our work together, that's what we'll do. Change the lens. Change the focus. Sometimes that's all it takes to awaken, to be open, to be aware, to step into the unknown to see what was once unseen. Then ask: "What would be possible in my life if I were to shift my perspective? How might this open up possibilities I have not seen? What options might appear?"
This is the work of Therapeutic Photography at Soltreks--exploring your inner landscape while discovering your true self.
Therapeutic Photography is available on One-on-One treks and in small group experiences.
Photography is an effective form of transformation:
- Developing mindfulness through photography awakens intuition; the feeling-self vs the thinking-self.
- Photography is a form of self-expression, manifesting a person’s genuine emotions through creativity and imagery.
- Photography deepens our awareness of how we sense our environment.
- Therapeutic photography takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary, thus a transformative experience.
- Photography unleashes the artistic, creative and intuitive ways of being and builds emotional intelligence and confidence.

"Seeing within a Scene"
I dealt with an unexpected death in my family in the only way I knew how: by using my camera. It gave me control when I had none, it protected me when I was vulnerable. It responded immediately to how I was feeling. It helped me see when I was blind in thought. I see the camera as an extension of my being and take it everywhere with me. It’s just such a responsive tool and it’s results are immediate!
